AES 2022 Audio for Virtual and Augmented Reality, Aug 15-17

Posted on: Tuesday 14th of June 2022

From Spatial Audio Reproduction, to Perception, Hardware, Applications and more, the AES 2022 AVAR Conference aims to bring together leading industry experts and technology innovators to Redmond, Washington, August 15 – 17.

Keynote speakers include:
Dr. Veronique Larcher, director of AMBEO Immersive Audio, Sennheiser’s brand for immersive audio products and experiences. She is also a founding advisor at Earkick, a startup focused on monitoring anxiety using audio biomarkers.
Karlheinz Brandenburg, senior Professor (emeritus) at Technische Universität Ilmenau, Germany, and CEO of Brandenburg Labs GmbH, (a startup company specializing in immersive audio technologies). Brandenburg will be known to many Resolution readers as founding director of the Fraunhofer-Institut für Digitale Medientechnologie (Fraunhofer IDMT), from which he retired in July, 2019, and for his pioneering work in digital audio coding (as a main contributor to the mp3 and AAC audio coding standards).
Anastasia Devana, an internationally recognized leader in spatial audio design and technology. She works in immersive mediums like VR, AR, and spatial computing. In her role as the Audio Director at Magic Leap, Anastasia built and led a world-class team, shipped several award-winning projects, played a key role in advancing the Magic Leap spatial audio technology, and presented at several international conferences on the topic of spatial audio.

The AES International Conference on Audio for Virtual and Augmented Reality (AV AR 2022) covers topics such as:
– Binaural, ambisonics and wave field synthesis techniques
– Spatial audio capture, rendering and synthesis over headphones and loudspeakers
– HRTF modeling and derivation from optical and/or acoustic measurements
