RØDECaster Pro ‘podcast production studio’

Posted on: Thursday 6th of December 2018

RØDE’s new RØDECaster Pro is an all-in-one solution for podcasters. It’s a mixer, recorder and sample playback unit rolled into one with separate inputs for 3.5mm TRRS, Bluetooth, and USB sources. Four onboard Class A preamps can supply phantom power to condenser microphones for podcast presenters who can each monitor via four headphone outputs. Eight colour coded pads can be pre-loaded with sound effects or jingles to be triggered mid-recording. A colour touchscreen gives you quick and easy control over settings such as EQ and processing presets which include the Aphex Aural Exciter and Big Bottom.

Two innovative features are the way RØDECaster is able to handle incoming phone calls, and its implementation of ‘cart-like’ ident/sample triggering. The ‘simple’ feature of introducing a guest for a remote phone interview has always been harder to implement and record than it should be, with clicks, buzzes and echo all creating problems with anything except the traditional expensive professional broadcast hardware. With the RØDECaster Pro, you can connect a mobile phone via Bluetooth or a TRRS cable, with ‘mix-minus’ audio available for echo-free clear recording.

RodeCaster Pro records directly to microSD card for a completely self-contained podcasting setup that relieves you from carrying a separate audio interface and laptop. Alternatively you can use it as an interface and record to your DAW of choice.
